Ladakh Cycling Adventure 2025: Photo Gallery of Our Himalayan Challenge

Discover the Land of the High Passes

We are thrilled to share some images from our recently completed cycling adventure in Ladakh, in the heart of the Indian Himalayas. This guided trip, titled Ladakh: The Land of the High Passes, challenge between the Himalayas and Karakoram,” represents one of the most unique mountain bike experiences offered by Patagonia Biking, the result of decades of passion and expertise in adventure cycling tours worldwide.

The journey unfolded in a spectacular area known as “Little Tibet,” a paradise for mountain bike enthusiasts. Participants had the unique opportunity to ride closer to the skies than anywhere else on the planet, while immersing themselves in the fascinating Tibetan culture.

Embracing the Challenge of Altitude

Ladakh—which means “land of countless passes”—lives up to its name, bringing us across some of the highest mountain passes in the world. The itinerary included the Taglang La (5330 m), the Chang La (5360 m), and the Khardung La (5360 m).

This cycling adventure Ladakh is rated Hard, with a difficulty level ranging from medium to high. Some stretches were demanding, but the trip remained non-competitive. Careful planning of the stages ensured riders had time to acclimatize to altitudes between 3000m and 5350m. For those who needed help, slopes rarely exceeded 6%, and support vehicles were always available, particularly across the three highest passes.

A truly satisfying experience, which also provided us with wonderful moments shared with our Indo-Nepalese support team, who literally “spoiled” us throughout.

An Authentic Himalayan Mountain Bike Experience

Cycling tourism here means fully immersing yourself in unique landscapes and cultures. Traveling at a slow pace gave participants time to treasure every encounter. The route followed the Indus River Valley, passing breathtaking lakes like Tsomoriri and Pangong Tso. Along the way, riders met monks, shepherds, and farmers—whose humility and charisma created unforgettable memories.

The adventure covered 775 km in 18 days and 15 stages (a shorter 13-day trip is also available). We averaged 52 km a day with more than 640m of elevation gain. Accommodations included budget hotels or hostels in villages, and wilderness camping in remote areas (tents provided).

An interesting challenge at a leisurely pace, in tune with the place.
