Trip around Northern Italy on mountain bike: Toscana, Brescia and Lago di Garda

A tour of selected places in Toscana, Brescia, Lago di Garda and towns in the area. An easy itinerary, designed for those who wish to know, riding at leisure, two suggestive angles of Italy. La Garfagnana: a Toscana angle, surrounded by the Apuane Alps and the Tosco-Emiliano Appenino. A region unknown to “mass tourism”. Mostly mountains covered in chestnut and faggio trees, rich in lakes and medieval castles filled with art and tradition where time seems to have stood still. We will visit the cities of Luca and Pisa and other, smaller, towns. Lago di Garda: it’s Italy’s largest lake, surrounded by three regions: Lombardia (province of Brescia), Veneto (province of Verona) and Trentino alto Adige (province of Trento). We will get to know the coast of Brescia and the coast of Verona, the elegance of citadels, destination of international tourism and also the relaxed atmosphere of provincial life, riding through easy bike trails among old castles, vineyards, olive trees and exquisite lake views.

We will also discover the Iseo Lake, the town of the same name and one of its islands called Montisola, which happens to be the largest lake island in Italy. The ”entroterra” (inner land), named Franciacorta, is rich because of its historic wineries and famous all over the world because of its production of “bollicine”wine. We will visit Brescia, Mantova and Verona on our bikes, discovering the fascination of their piazzas and hidden nooks, testaments of the architectural splendor of these sites.
