Lake Titicaca and Salar de Uyuni: with ascent to the volcanoes (Tunupa / Licancabu (5970m) and the Fernando de Avaroa reserve.

A trip that will allow us to know the treasures of Bolivia and unique landscapes in the world.
It is a mixed cycling and trekking trip, making a measured effort, with quiet stages that will allow a correct acclimatization. (Participants can also choose to do the cycling or trekking stages only)
We will make a descent to the yungas jungle, a walk through the island of the Sun, trekking to the Tunupa volcano with the spectacular view of the salt flat and the bike ride of the Salar de Uyuni, an “experience from another planet”

Extension to Laguna Colorada and Licancabur volcano (14 days)
knowing the wonderful Fernando de Avaroa Reserve with its lagoons and surreal landscapes.

La Paz Day 1:
Meeting in city of La Paz (3.500 m). Presentation dinner.
 Overnight: hotel
Day 2 – Yolosa- descent to the Yungas or famous “Death Road”:
One of the “Downhill” steepest in the world, from 4,700 meters to 1,200 meters above sea level and only 64 km. From the high peaks of the Andes, it descends, with sharp cliffs and waterfalls, to the tropical vegetation of the “pre Amazonia”. Technically not difficult but attention and coordination on the mountain bike is required. We’ll have a lot of excitement and adrenaline for the first day of the trip!
Note: This road was considered one the most dangerous in the world for motor vehicles, but since recently, a new paved road was open, through which most cars are diverted.

Day 3 – Copacabana:
Transfer with a van to Tiquina (one hour and a half drive), a great panoramic view point of the Titicaca lake. From there we cross a strait on boat. Then we get on our mountain biking cycling the last 10 km with amazing views over the Titicaca lake, to the charming so Bolivian characteristic town of Copacabana.

Day 4 – Copacabana:
Peninsula de Yampupata e Isla del Sol:
We take a side of the beaten gravel road mountain biking to Yampupata peninsula, mountain biking along the lake shore passing along small bolivian villages. We take a boat to Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun). We take a guided tour on the island visiting Inca ruins and enjoying panoramic views of the terraces.
Daily biking ride: 35 km on gravel road.
Lodging: at hotel.

Day 5- Oruro:

We will make a brief trekking in the morning and we will cycle around 40 kms, along the shores of Lake Titicaca. Transfer to the city of Oruro.
Overnight: hotel

Day 6 – Tahua. (3665msnm), on the Salar de Uyuni:

Morning transfer We will pass through different towns, Garci Mendoza and the saline homonyms. We will sleep on the edge of the salt flat and the feet of the Tunupa volcano.
Cycling: 45 km.
Overnight: Salt Hotel.

Day 7 – Ascent to the Tunupa volcano (optional) – Walk around the outskirts of the salt flat.
We will make a brief transfer of approach and then a trekking, around 2.30 hours, to one of the peaks of the Tunupa volcano (5320), to appreciate from its heights, an incomparable panorama. Whoever wishes can rest. Free afternoon, with the possibility of cycling through the salt flat and appreciating the fauna
Free pedaling or trekking of 4 hours.
Overnight: Salt hotel (exclusive)

Day 8 – Uyuni (3700 masl):
Crossing the Uyuni salt flat, stopping at km 45, on the island of Inca Huasi, a flora and fauna reserve. We will continue another 55 km, through the largest salt desert on the planet – where the fascination of space and freedom magically combine. Transfer to the town of Uyuni.
Farewell dinner.
Pedaling: 100 km.
Overnight: Hotel.

Day 9: Breakfast and end:
The return from Uyuni to La Paz and country of origin can be done by plane taking into account that there are several daily flights that connect Uyuni with La Paz (40 minutes)

Extension to the Licancabur volcano

Day 9 – San Juan (3700masl):
We will travel through a valley with populations that are dedicated to the cultivation of quinoa and livestock.
Pedaling: 50 km.
Elevation gain: + 500m –450m
Overnight: hotel.

Day 10 – Laguna Hedionda (4150): ascent until reaching Laguna Hedionda, where we will surely appreciate a large number of flamingos.
Pedaling: 75 km.
Elevation gain + 900m -300m.
Overnight: shop, with the possibility of a hotel.

Day 11 – Laguna Colorada (4300masl):
At km 30, we will reach 4650 masl. We will cross the Siloli Desert, with some sandy stretches and at km 65 (approx), we will find the “stone tree”. At the end, we will arrive at the natural wonder of Laguna Colorada, where thousands of flamingos live, within the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve.
Pedaling: 82 km.
Elevation gain + 800m -650m.
Overnight: shop with the possibility of a hotel.

Day 12- Termas de Polques (4400masl):
At km 37, we will reach 4915 meters above sea level and we will appreciate the geysers of “Sol de Mañana”, we will descend to the Termas de Polques, to enjoy the open hot springs in a wonderful landscape
Pedaling: 57 km.
Slope: + 715m – 600m
Overnight: shop with the possibility of a hotel.

Day 13- Ascent to the Licancabur Volcano (5970msnm):
We will start walking, after a transfer, until we reach the summit and its volcanic cone with a lagoon inside. From the top a beautiful panorama will be appreciated, with the green and white lagoons.
Trekking: around 7 hours with 1,100m of unevenness.
Overnight: hotel in the Polques hot springs.

Day 14 – Breakfast and transfer to the town of Uyuni:

Short variant: 300 km of pedaling. Trekking: around 20km. Around 650 km of transfer are made, by vehicle, to connect the distant places.
Long trip: 600 km of pedaling, 95% on land. The route takes place in height, between 3,600 meters above sea level and 4,900 meters above sea level. With two long descents up to 1200 masl and 2400 masl. And in the trekkings a maximum of 5970 masl is reached
